We appreciate your interest in the NYU Langone Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry Program at the San Diego location. This program provides a distinctive residency training experience in pediatric dentistry. Training facilities are situated in Chula Vista (CVMP) and El Cajon (EC), with residents also rotating through Rady Children’s Hospital (RCH). Both CVMP and EC are managed by San Ysidro Health (SYH), a prominent federally qualified health center (FQHC). Residents gain hands-on clinical training in pediatric dentistry while serving the community, treating patients at health centers and the only children's hospital in San Diego County, in collaboration with medical professionals. RCH offers essential hospital and medical rotations for specialty training, along with additional clinic rotations focusing on Down Syndrome, Craniofacial conditions, Cleft Lip and Palate, and Nasoalveolar Molding. The program caters to both healthy and special-needs or medically-compromised pediatric patients. Residents collaborate closely with various specialty services at RCH, including Hematology/Oncology, the Craniofacial Team, Cardiology, Neurology, and Anesthesia, to ensure coordinated patient care. They also benefit from the extensive network of SYH’s dental clinics across San Diego County, which provides further well-child clinical experience and community service opportunities. The program includes rigorous onsite didactic sessions led by staff pediatric dentists and specialists in Endodontics and Orthodontics, complementing the video teleconferencing lecture series provided by NYU Langone Dental Medicine.
