What is the mission of your training site? Both partners in the Grady AEGD focus on underserved populations that cannot afford dental care. The Grady site focuses on people with HIV. The Ben Massell partner sees patients within 200% of federal poverty.
What types of dental services can I expect to perform? Both partners provide comprehensive care including crown and bridge, CEREC, lasers, periodontal surgeries, implant placement and restoration, etc.
What types of technologies can I expect to use? Laser, CEREC, CBCT, combined EMR/EDR. Grady’s Ponce Center is undergoing a complete renovation and expansion bringing the latest in patient safety to the clinic environment.
What is the patient population? ½ of the patients receive care through via Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program funding. Our patients are very diverse and mirror the population of Atlanta
What is life like outside of the training site? Both Grady and Ben Massell are located in areas of town that are undergoing gentrification. The Ponce business corridor, where the Grady clinic is located is a combination of apartments, condos, grocery stores and the high-end Ponce City Market. There is subsidized housing across the street.
