The Lee Specialty Clinic, opened summer 2014, is unlike any clinical program in existence.
The Developmental Dentistry AEGD residency is a nationally-recognized program developed for dentists who have graduated from a CODA-accredited DMD or DDS program, and who wish to obtain additional, focused training in developmental (special needs) dentistry. The curriculum is designed to provide an immersion experience in the dental care of patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Clinical training takes place at the Lee Specialty Clinic in Louisville, Kentucky, where the resident will work as an important member of an interdisciplinary clinical team comprised of developmental physicians, developmental dentists, neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, dental hygienists, behavior analysts and an array of therapists and ancillary personnel. Residents will also have an opportunity to treat complex cases under general anesthesia in the Operating Room.
Residents complete rotations at neighboring Louisville dental facilities to satisfy their AEGD requirements in endodontics, prosthodontics and periodontics.
