Serving Boston’s Most Vulnerable Communities. Opened in 1979, the Codman Square Health Center, is a community-based, outpatient health care and multi-service center in the heart of Dorchester. CSHC is the principal option for affordable, high quality, primary and preventive care in one of Boston's poorest and most vulnerable communities. The Dental Department is committed to providing the highest level of urgent dental and general dentistry service to the community and employees staff members who hold faculty positions at Boston University and Tufts Schools of Dental Medicine. Seven dental operatories at Codman and one at a school-based health center feature state-of-the-art DENTRIX® Dental Systems. The dental program also sponsors public health advocacy and community education by setting up health fairs in local schools to proactively avert dental difficulty, through appropriate preventative oral care practices. In addition to working with NYU Langone Dental Medicine's AEGD program, the department provides on-site training to Boston University and Tufts students in dentistry and oral hygiene over the course of 5-10 week externships.
