The NYU Langone Dental Medicine Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry program in Holyoke, MA is affiliated with Holyoke Health Center to provide comprehensive dental care to patients throughout the Western Mass area. At our health center, residents gain experience providing comprehensive care including exams, cleanings, fluoride, SDF, sealants, filling, crowns, pulpal therapy, extractions, space maintenance, orthodontics, and oral surgery procedures. Dental care is provided to infants, children, adolescents, and adults with special healthcare needs using various aspects of behavior management, nitrous oxide inhalation, and oral conscious sedation. Residents also gain experience in providing dental treatment under general anesthesia at local area hospitals and participate in on-call rotations at the nearby level 1 trauma center Baystate Medical Center. During the course of their training, residents will have an abundance of opportunities in teaching at Tufts’ University School of Dental Medicine as well as on-site at the health center. Residents will also participate in providing interdisciplinary collaborative care alongside various specialties and other residency programs located at the health center and outside affiliated institutions. The pediatric dental clinic also operates a school portable program as part of an outreach effort to ensure all children have access to affordable quality oral health care.
