What is the mission of your training site?
The mission of La Familia Health is “to foster community well-being in partnership with our patients by providing excellent, accessible, family-centered medical, dental and behavioral health care.” The dental clinic is a 20 operatory facility based on the Santa Fe Community College campus and hosts various educational programs and operates as a federally qualified health center.  It offers comprehensive dental services to a broad, multicultural, multilingual patient base.

What types of dental services can I expect to perform?
La Familia Health dental clinic offers comprehensive dental services including:  periodontal treatment, direct and indirect restorations, oral surgery, endodontics, and implant dentistry.  

What types of technologies can I expect to use?
La Familia Health has advanced technologies including three shapes digital scanners, two VHF milling units, two ivoclar vivadent ovens, Newtom CBCT, Kerr Sybron Elements cordless fill/obturation system, digital xray sensors in all operatories, formlabs 3d printer.

What is the patient population?
Patient population is a large, diverse, and multicultural patient base.  We see a majority of adult patients that ultimately require complex dental services to be provided at La Familia Health. 

What is life like outside of the training site?
Santa Fe, New Mexico is the capital city of New Mexico that is a charming, vibrant community surrounded by high desert canyons and mountains.  It is an active, multilingual community that has a regional airport, and is an hour drive from the largest city in the state, Albuquerque.

Will residents have the opportunity to restore and/or place implants at your training site?
Implant dentistry should be a core consideration for all adult patients that have some form of edentulism.  Thus, we expect applicants to anticipate having access to implant dentistry as a core component of care provided within La Familia Health.

Will residents treat children in your training site?
Although La Familia Health dental clinic does see a majority of adults patients, we do have pediatric patients and will offer pediatric services based upon the current patient demand.
