About Neighborcare Health
Neighborcare Health is the largest provider of primary medical, dental and behavioral health care services in Seattle for on low-income and uninsured families and individuals, seniors on fixed incomes, immigrants, and people without a permanent home or stable housing. Each year Neighborcare Health cares for more than 71,000 patients at 30 non-profit medical, dental and school-based clinics. We believe that everyone deserves a place to call a health care home, where we strive to build long-term relationships and meet our patients’ multiple needs. Patients are asked to pay what they can, but no one is turned away due to inability to pay or lack of insurance.
About the Neighborcare Health Residency Program
Neighborcare Health has been providing real world experience for recent dental school graduates since 2007, making it a priority to provide a robust and well-supported learning environment for emerging professionals. We operate six dental clinics in Seattle, serving infants through adults, and offer four resident positions at our dental clinic in the Georgetown neighborhood.
Through Neighborcare Health, residents experience a wide range of dental issues and procedures with patients who are often medically comprised. Procedures include crowns, fillings, surgical extractions and full and partial dentures. Residents have the opportunity to create their own treatment plans and complete them with patients. Working at Neighborcare Health will not only help new dentists hone critical skills, but will give them the unique opportunity to serve a very diverse patient population—ethnicity, language, housing status, history of oral health care, etc.—and provide patients with long-awaited and much-needed relief.
Testimonial
Here is what one former resident Jessica S. said about her experience with Neighborcare Health:
“I developed a strong understanding how to treat medically compromised patients. I learned how certain conditions uniquely impact dental care and how to prevent potential complications. Working in community health has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m grateful I learned from attendings who truly cared about my growth.”
